Hopping Towards Easter

– Posted in: Seasonal Color

Easter 2016 is Sunday, March 27.  We have been busy preparing for this early Easter for months!  Tulips, hyacinths, and daffodils were all planted in early October to allow the bulbs plenty of time to mature for Easter Sunday.  On December 1, we had 8,000 Easter lily bulbs arrive.  Between poinsettias orders, we planted these bulbs in record time.  Even during the Christmas rush, it is never too early to think Spring.

As our Christmas rush was winding down the week before Christmas, we were greeted with four pallets of hydrangeas on a balmy Friday afternoon.  These plants were quickly unpacked in our greenhouses so the plants could get light and air.  We potted them over to their final pots the week after Christmas.

The Christmas clean up was still a work in progress in our greenhouses but calls were already coming in for Easter price lists.  Easter price lists were sent out in early January allowing you plenty of time to prebook your Easter potted plant needs.  It is essential to prebook your Easter flowers needs as early as possible.

While you are busy planning your Easter season, we are busy making sure our Easter flowers are looking good.  Andy has mastered the treatments needed for growing true blue hydrangeas.  Aimee and Emily are busy counting Easter lily leaves as they unfold so the lilies are open perfectly for Easter Sunday church services.  Dave oversees the greenhouse temperatures and fertilization programs for each Easter crop we grow ensuring beautiful flowers year after year.  Whitney, Geno, Deanie, and Cheli plant, space, and pinch the various Easter crops as needed.

Together, the team at Musselman Greenhouses is growing another beautiful Easter flower crop.  We are busy hopping towards Easter all winter long!
